2011 Policies and Prices

What a whirlwind the last few months have been!

I have met some really awesome people and made a lot of new friends - and I am so grateful! I have been slowly learning the business side of being a photographer, and have done one policy and one price adjustment since starting my business last summer, trying to figure out the best balance between my time, my income, my clients and their wishes.

Whew! It's a lot harder than it sounds, trying to keep clients happy while also making sure I'm earning enough money to justify the time spent away from my family.

I've gotten some professional experience under my belt with different clients and have made a list of policy changes to go into effect January 1st. Some of the prices have gone up a little, some have gone down, and some haven't changed at all.

Please remember that the fees usually cover: driving time to outdoor locations; up to 2 hours of session time, approximately 8-12 hours of editing; use, care and replacement of my camera equipment and editing software; wear and tear of my studio or gas, wear and tear on my vehicle for outdoor locations; as well as time spent with clients going through pictures. It's truly an investment.

And even more good news? I'm bringing back print credit - YAY!

With that being said ... Effective January 1st are the following adjustments:

Policy Changes

1.) I will require a 50% deposit within 1 week of booking for any kind of session (amount exception: my smaller sessions, i.e. Halloween pictures, specials, etc. - these will require a smaller deposit TBA at the time of session announcements). This deposit will be non-refundable; if for some reason you must cancel, the booking deposit would be good for your rescheduled session to be done within 30 days. The rest of the session fee will be due at the time of the session. CD payments are not due until pick-up, which is the same as it always has been; however, you may pay in full at the time of your session.

2.) I am still going to allow customers to choose which pictures I edit. This seems to be a good business decision and I’ve had a lot of positive feedback because most photographers do not allow clients to do this. I feel that pictures are an incredibly personal thing and everyone’s opinion is not always going to be the same; I would rather the client be incredibly happy with their pictures than for me to choose something I like and hope for the best. Of course, I’m willing to lend an opinion as to which pictures I think look best, but ultimately the decision will be yours.

3.) Please be on time for your sessions. I do understand that things come up, and that the weather can impede travel time, but please do your best to be on time for your session. If you cannot be on time for your session, please give me as much notice as possible. In case some of my clients didn’t know, I am the proud mom to 4 kids and at times I have to find childcare for them to accommodate sessions. Please at least give me the courtesy of telling me you are running late or cannot make it; no-call no-shows have happened this year and it is a direct result of this that I am now forced to take deposits.

4.) Outdoor shoots will be in Colorado Springs; I am available to travel to other areas, please contact me for a private quote.
5.) I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. This typically applies to situations I am not comfortable with; i.e. too risqué during boudoir sessions, requesting permission to copy another photographer’s exact pose, etc.

6.) I cannot be held responsible for absent or uncooperative clients.

7.) Sessions are for the stated person/people only. Sessions cannot be split or shared between families. Outside of the immediate family and pets, each additional person in the picture is $5 each. So, for example, if Grandma wants to have her picture taken with the immediate family (mom, dad & kids), it will be an additional $5.

8.) Specials and mini sessions are only for the advertised person/people; if you would like additional shots, poses or people to be in the picture, please make arrangements for the appropriate session appointment.

9.) When using the sneak peeks off of Facebook for profiles, please respectfully include my watermark and maintain proper sizing (select the ENTIRE picture).

And please remember, all sales are final.
